Recent data from the blockchain explorer Shibariumscan highlights a surprising 84% drop in transaction fees for Shiba Inu’s layer-2 solution, Shibarium. On June 22, transaction fees were at 79 BONE, but by June 27, they had plummeted to just 12 BONE. This steep decline has alarmed the crypto community, as BONE is the official gas fee token crucial for transaction processing and staking within the Shibarium ecosystem.
Alongside the decrease in transaction fees, the average gas price on Shibarium experienced a significant reduction. From 40.83 gwei on June 24, it fell sharply to 8.39 gwei by June 27, marking a 79% decrease. Gas prices are vital for blockchain infrastructure as they influence the cost-effectiveness of network operations.

A Boon For Network Usability
However, this substantial decrease in both transaction fees and gas prices benefits the network’s usability and accessibility. Lower costs significantly reduce the barriers to executing transactions, making Shibarium an attractive option for a broader range of users. Notably, decentralized applications (dApps) and other blockchain-based services will gain from these reduced costs, which are essential for maintaining operational efficiency.
The implications of lower transaction fees and gas prices extend beyond immediate cost savings. They position Shibarium as a strong competitor in the blockchain space, allowing users to conduct transactions at a fraction of the cost compared to other networks. This cost advantage is crucial for individual users and businesses that depend on the blockchain for their daily operations.
Impressive Transaction Volume
Since its inception, Shibarium has processed an impressive 417,820,386 transactions. The network has also recorded 5,483,958 blocks and 1,808,331 wallet addresses, according to Shibariumscan data. These statistics underscore the significant activity and adoption of the Shibarium network, even amid the recent drop in key metrics.
