The team behind Shiba Inu has unveiled a new exciting event as the launch of the Shibarium mainnet edges closer. This new community event, the Shibarium Hackathon, adds to the exciting lineup of initiatives that the team promises during the Shibarium Summer.
Important to note is the Shibarium Summer, a period within the Shiba Inu community that signifies the lead-up to the launch of the layer-2 scaling solution, the Shibarium mainnet. According to the team, this period will witness a slew of exciting releases and updates.
The Shibarium Hackathon
The Shiba Inu development team initiated the Shibarium hackathon on June 30 to encourage teamwork and inclusivity. According to an announcement from marketing expert Lucie, the hackathon offers a significant reward of $5,000 in BONE tokens for the top development project.
It’s worth mentioning that BONE is the governance token of Shibaswap. It will be used for transaction costs on the soon-to-be-launched Shibarium mainnet.

The Shiba Inu bounty program is tailored for skilled technology lovers, Web3 developers, designers, and forward-thinkers. The Shibarium Hackathon emphasizes teamwork, with the team advocating for participants to establish diverse groups and collaborate on bold projects in a friendly setting.
Specifically, the hackathon challenges participants to create innovative solutions and applications within the realms of decentralized finance (DeFi), zero-trust finance, the Distributed Cloud Operating System (DC/OS), and healthcare.

Though these are the main areas of focus, the Shiba Inu team clarified that hackathon teams have the freedom to create any kind of solution. That said, it was emphasized in the announcement that the applications should be completely new and original.
The announcement stated, “During this hackathon, you are free to build anything you like. In fact, we want you to come up with something completely original and new. […] For this hackathon, the project must be a new development in order to ensure equal opportunity.”
Major Requirements
To be eligible for the grand prize, participants in the Shibarium hackathon must follow important guidelines. First, they are required to utilize the Shibarium testnet (Puppynet) for all smart contracts used in developing applications during the bounty program.
Second, it is essential for all teams to accurately document their work, including the technology and architecture involved. This documentation will be taken into account as one of the judging criteria.

Lastly, participants are expected to submit short videos, lasting between 2 to 5 minutes, as part of their work documentation. These videos will provide additional insights into their projects and contributions during the hackathon.
The recent launch of the Shibarium Beta Bridge for public testing, as previously covered by Fxcryptonews, indicates that the Shiba Inu L2 scaling solution is approaching its mainnet release. Shytoshi Kusama also confirmed this exciting development, suggesting that the launch on the mainnet is imminent.
