Ripple recently made strategic announcements at XRPL events in Korea and Japan, reinforcing its commitment to advancing blockchain utility and institutional adoption. These efforts aim to strengthen crypto infrastructure, ensuring it supports a wide range of enterprise use cases.

Ripple Custody Integration with Futureverse

Ripple has announced the integration of Ripple Custody, a move aimed at enabling Futureverse to securely manage its digital assets. Futureverse, a key player in the XRPL ecosystem, has adopted the XRPL NFT standard and uses XRP as the gas token on the Root Network. Additionally, Futureverse is integrated with the XRPL DEX, supplying essential network liquidity. 

Ripple’s President, has praised this partnership, emphasizing that secure and compliant infrastructure is crucial for driving enterprise use cases. “Everyone – from big banks to crypto natives – needs secure and compliant infrastructure to power enterprise use cases. Excited to further our partnership with Futureverse,” Long remarked.

Ripple’s University Blockchain Research Initiative (UBRI) continues to expand its footprint by adding Korea’s Yonsei University as its 58th partner. This expansion underlines Ripple’s commitment to fostering blockchain education and research worldwide.

Introducing Programmability on the XRP Ledger

In another key move, Ripple plans to introduce new features, including smart contracts, to the XRPL developer ecosystem by 2025. Progress toward this is already visible with the XRPL EVM Sidechain, developed in collaboration with Peersyst, nearing deployment on the devnet.

Ripple expects this momentum to accelerate in early 2025, positioning the year as pivotal for the platform. Furthermore, the XRPL EVM Sidechain will bring Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) compatibility to the XRP community, expanding potential applications on the XRP Ledger. Significantly, two developments will enhance the XRP Ledger’s programmability: the implementation of native smart contract capabilities, currently under research, and the imminent launch of the XRPL EVM Sidechain.

These advancements reflect Ripple’s ongoing efforts to solidify the XRP Ledger as a leading platform for blockchain innovation and enterprise adoption.
