Ripple President Monica Long has recently addressed speculation regarding the future of the XRP Ledger Foundation. Long announced in a tweet that the XRPL Foundation would rebrand as the Inclusive Financial Technology Foundation (INFTF). This move raises questions about the future role of the XRPL Foundation and Ripple’s ongoing commitment to the XRP Ledger.

In response to an inquiry about whether Ripple plans to discontinue the XRPL Foundation, Long confirmed that Ripple is indeed working on creating a new, independent foundation.
This new foundation will be distinct from the newly renamed INFTF. Ripple’s work with the Foundation, XRPL Labs, and XRPL Commons will ensure that the new foundation focuses on the XRP Ledger’s growth and development.

Ripple CTO David Schwartz added that Ripple has been in discussions with the Foundation to determine the best path forward. Ripple and the Foundation have agreed on the future steps, and they will share specific details soon.
XRP Ledger Foundation Rebrands As INFTF
On August 6, the XRP Ledger Foundation announced its rebranding to the Inclusive Financial Technology Foundation (INFTF), also known legally as InFTF MTU. The Foundation explained that its previous name was limiting because it was tied exclusively to one technology. The rebranding aims to reflect a broader mission that transcends the XRP Ledger technology alone.

The INFTF will continue to support global social and financial inclusion efforts. Over the past year, the Foundation has worked with international organizations, including as an associate member of the Organisation for Southern Cooperation with 28 member countries. This transition lets XRPL stakeholders work together to maintain key assets like the XRP trademark, the Code Repository, and the xrpl.org domain.
Ripple’s efforts to establish a new, independent Foundation signal a commitment to enhancing the XRPL’s development while broadening the scope of the INFTF’s mission.
