Ripple President Monica Long announced a significant achievement for RLUSD via a recent tweet. She confirmed that the Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA) has now approved RLUSD as a recognised crypto token within the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC). This move allows all DFSA-licensed firms to officially use RLUSD, marking a critical step forward for Ripple’s stablecoin project.
Big milestone – RLUSD is now recognized under Dubai’s world-class DFSA regime, meaning it can be fully integrated into Ripple Payments (and utilised by any other DFSA-licensed firms!) in the @ DIFC 🇦🇪

DFSA Approval Boosts RLUSD’s Regional Standing
Monica Long described the DFSA approval as a major milestone, noting that RLUSD has gained considerable traction in both the U.S. and the UAE. Previously, the New York Department of Financial Services (NYDFS) had already approved RLUSD, making it one of the few stablecoins accepted by both American and Dubai regulators.

This dual approval has significantly enhanced RLUSD’s credibility. The stablecoin maintains full backing by U.S. dollars, cash, and other highly liquid assets on a 1:1 basis, making it a reliable option for financial institutions. Ripple promotes RLUSD as a transparent and highly utilitarian asset that meets strict regulatory requirements.
7,000+ DFSA-Licensed Companies Can Now Use RLUSD
With DFSA’s green light, Ripple can fully integrate RLUSD into its Ripple Payments system within DIFC. Moreover, over 7,000 companies operating under Dubai’s DFSA licensing regime can now utilize the stablecoin. These firms are expected to play a vital role in embedding RLUSD into the local fintech and digital asset ecosystem.

Ripple initially developed RLUSD to improve cross-border transactions. By combining it with XRP, the company aims to deliver faster, cheaper, and more efficient global payments. Ripple has already started deploying RLUSD for this purpose in the region.
Strong Market Demand Drives RLUSD Adoption
According to Monica Long’s tweet, a press release revealed a 55% year-over-year increase in stablecoin transactions across the region. This surge underscores growing demand for blockchain-based financial solutions that address the inefficiencies of traditional payment systems. Given Dubai’s $400+ billion international trade market, RLUSD is well-positioned to support the region’s digital financial growth.
