Ripple has shifted 630 million XRP in the early hours of June 1, 2025. Interestingly, the company has yet to release its standard 1 billion XRP from escrow for the new month. This marks a departure from its long-standing monthly schedule.
Whale Alert, a well-known blockchain tracker, reported five major XRP transactions involving Ripple and unidentified wallets. Based on current market prices of $2.17 per XRP, the transferred amount totals roughly $1.36 billion.
Internal Wallet Transfers Begin the Activity
The first transaction occurred at 11:00 p.m. UTC. A wallet tagged as unknown sent 330 million XRP to a Ripple-associated address. However, XRPScan confirmed this was an internal shuffle. Ripple simply moved 330 million XRP from “Ripple 26” to “Ripple 1.”

Two minutes later, Ripple moved another 170 million XRP from “Ripple 26” to “Ripple 15.” These actions appeared to be preparation for subsequent escrow activity.

Ripple Locks 670 Million XRP in Escrow
Ripple then locked 670 million XRP in escrow. It used two wallets for this: “Ripple 14” locked 200 million XRP, while “Ripple 15” locked the remaining 470 million. Notably, Ripple 15 had just received 170 million XRP minutes earlier.

This escrow action breaks from Ripple’s typical pattern. Normally, the firm releases 1 billion XRP on the first day of each month, then re-locks around 700 million shortly afterward. In May 2025, Ripple performed a similar shuffle before initiating its monthly unlock on May 2.
More Transfers Follow the Escrow
Ripple’s activity didn’t end with the escrow. Around 11:14 p.m. UTC on June 1, Ripple sent 50 million XRP from “Ripple 39” to an unidentified wallet labeled “rGBvE…9aBk2.” The same source wallet then sent 40 million XRP each to two more unknown addresses: “rHVjf…QsZW7” and “rDK26…ziAee.” These three transactions totaled 130 million XRP from “Ripple 39” alone.

So far this month, Ripple has moved 630 million XRP and locked 470 million of it in escrow. Yet, the company has not initiated its usual monthly 1 billion XRP release.

This shift may signal a continued change in strategy, as seen in previous months. Ripple’s reshuffling suggests it remains highly active behind the scenes, even if it strays from its standard operating routine.
