The XRP community is buzzing with speculation after two enormous accounts containing a combined 200 million XRP tokens were activated on the XRP Ledger (XRPL). The sudden appearance of these high-value wallets has raised questions about whether Ripple, the company behind XRP, is associated with these accounts.
XRPL Community Reacts to New Accounts
Vet, the cofounder of xrp.cafe, first drew attention to the activity. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), he flagged the accounts as “mislabeled” and stated that he does not believe Ripple owns them. Vet investigated further by examining Ripple’s .toml file, a document that transparently lists all of Ripple’s official XRP and RLUSD issuer accounts.

His findings? The new accounts do not appear on the list.
The toml is only a list of known accounts for escrow, as correctly pointed out by others, there can definitely be unknown Ripple accounts. Accounts with 400M XRP should have a clear trace back to known accounts.

Operational accounts like the ones used for RLUSD are for…
Could These Be Hidden Ripple Accounts?
Although the toml file offers verified account details, it only includes known escrow and issuer accounts. This raises the possibility that Ripple could still control other unlisted or operational accounts.
Vet clarified that operational accounts are not usually included in the toml file but are still expected to link back to an identifiable Ripple entity. In this case, neither of the two massive accounts holding 200 million XRP show any clear trace back to Ripple.
“Accounts with 400M XRP should have a clear trace back to known accounts,” Vet emphasized. “Operational accounts like the ones used for RLUSD are for distribution, not holding. That’s what the escrow and issuer accounts are for.”
So, while there’s no proof that Ripple is connected to these accounts, there is also no definitive evidence to rule the company out either. The lack of transparency has only fueled more community curiosity.

XRP Faces Price Pressure Amid Speculation
As this development unfolds, XRP itself is under pressure. The token has suffered an 8% drop, highlighting broader volatility in the crypto market. The timing of the massive account activations alongside XRP’s price crash adds another layer of intrigue to the story.
Until further details emerge or Ripple addresses the speculation, the origin of these 200 million XRP accounts will remain uncertain. In a space that thrives on transparency and traceability, such ambiguity keeps the XRPL community on high alert.
