The Xumm wallet team has put forward a roadmap to revamp the XRPL infrastructure to enhance greater engagement in network maintenance and operations through incentives.
In an official statement, the team acknowledged the inadaptability and financial viability constraints within the XRPL infrastructure amidst other obstacles, which led to frustration among individuals and companies.
The recent roadmap aims to tackle these concerns by introducing a strategy that encourages inclusivity and offers concrete incentives to contributors.
A central element of this renovation is the introduction of XRPLCluster, a novel software solution designed to address existing challenges and usher in improvements.
This software will create a globally connected XRPL network with advanced security measures to ensure swift access to real-time transaction data. Additionally, the Xumm team has committed to donating the XRPLCluster code and intellectual property to the XRPL Foundation.
Speaking on the proposed roadmap, Wietse Wind, founder of XRPL Labs and Xumm developer, remarked:
“This is, without a doubt, the most monumental upgrade to the XRPL infrastructure since its inception, marking a pivotal moment in our pursuit of a healthier, sustainable XRP Ledger.”
This system aims to confront current infrastructure issues and incentivize community members to participate actively. Ultimately, the proposal aims to create a more inclusive and financially rewarding environment for all stakeholders.

Given Ripple’s significant role in the ecosystem, an XRP community YouTuber inquired about the San Francisco-based company’s stance regarding the proposed plan. Wietse Wind emphasized the XRPL’s open nature, stating, “Ripple’s endorsement is not a prerequisite.”
Nevertheless, Wind expressed confidence that Ripple would likely embrace the plan, as it promises to improve inclusivity in infrastructure operations and offer incentives for running nodes, particularly for those expending resources.
The YouTuber also inquired about the mechanics of these incentives and the specific numbers involved. Wind clarified that the incentives would be generated through a revenue-sharing model, wherein resource users would contribute a substantial portion of their earnings. He mentioned that the precise figures would remain adjustable, depending on users’ workload. Nevertheless, Wind couldn’t provide specific numbers regarding the incentives at this time.
Another community member sought clarification on which entities would qualify as “resource consumers” within this proposed system. Wind clarified that this determination would be usage-based and encompass entities such as XRPL Labs, Ledger, exchanges, and other prominent organizations.
