XRP Moves $55M Hours After Landmark SEC Settlement

XRP Drops Nearly 9% in a Week: Is This a Healthy Pullback or a Trend Reversal?

Coinbase transferred 16,684,298 XRP, worth $55.46 million, shortly after Ripple ended its legal battle with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Whale Alert on X flagged the transaction, describing it as a move from an unknown wallet to Coinbase.

XRP_Liquidity clarified that the transfer was internal, moving funds from Coinbase Cold Wallet 396 to an operational address. After the shift, 29 cold wallets each held about 16.5 million XRP.

The transaction occurred in the early hours of Aug. 8, less than a day after Ripple and the SEC ended their appeals in the Second Circuit. This outcome upheld Judge Analisa Torres’ July 2023 ruling, which determined that XRP sales to institutional buyers were unregistered securities but sales to retail buyers through exchanges were not.

Both Ripple and the SEC agreed to cover their own legal costs, officially ending the nearly five-year dispute.

Blockchain analysts noted that Coinbase’s transfer was part of internal asset management, not an external liquidation. Moving assets from cold storage to an active wallet typically signals preparation for higher market activity. Exchanges often make such moves before trading volume rises, especially after major news.

XRP Price Jumps After Settlement

Following the settlement, XRP’s price climbed to $3.38, its highest level since late July. The combination of legal clarity and a large-scale transfer has drawn attention from traders tracking liquidity flows.

Analysts believe regulatory certainty and increased liquidity could drive short-term interest in XRP. Coinbase’s asset reallocation suggests it is ready to handle possible surges in institutional and retail trading.

The XRP community now watches closely to see if post-settlement momentum will sustain price growth. The coming trading sessions should offer early signals of market reaction to both the legal resolution and Coinbase’s liquidity move.
