XRP Ledger Updates AMMs, NFTs, and Tokens in Latest Release

XRP Ledger has launched version 2.3.0 of its rippled server software, marking a significant update. This release brings several features and stability enhancements, improving the ledger’s overall functionality. The XRP Ledger Foundation confirmed the update in an official blog, encouraging server operators to upgrade their nodes promptly. The update includes eight amendments, such as Multi-Purpose Tokens (MPTs), Credentials, Clawback support for AMMs, and NFT minting offers. It also resolves critical issues to ensure a more stable and efficient system.

Key Amendments and Features

The update introduces Multi-Purpose Tokens (XLS-33), a new class of fungible tokens tailored for institutional DeFi, including stablecoins. Another significant feature is the XLS-70 Credentials amendment, which allows users to issue credentials on the ledger. These credentials help preauthorize incoming payments when using deposit authorization, eliminating the need for individual payer approvals.

XLS-37 adds Clawback functionality for Automated Market Makers (AMMs), allowing clawback-enabled tokens to function with proper safeguards. XLS-52 enables the creation of NFT sell offers during the minting process, enhancing the flexibility of NFT operations on the ledger.

Voting and Amendment Process

The new amendments are now open for voting under the XRP Ledger’s amendment process. For an amendment to take effect, it must secure more than 80% approval from trusted validators for two consecutive weeks. Once approved, the protocol changes activate automatically, with the network determining the implementation timing. Version 2.3.0 also resolves several bugs to enhance stability.
