Wealth Manager Says BlackRock Now Clear to Launch XRP ETF After Ripple’s Legal Victory

Wealth Manager Predicts BlackRock Could File for XRP ETF Anytime

Nate Geraci, President of ETF Store and NovaDius Wealth Management, believes the final obstacle preventing BlackRock from filing for an XRP ETF has been removed. In a recent post on X, Geraci said an iShares XRP ETF could be announced at any time now that regulatory pressure on Ripple has eased following the official end of its lawsuit with the U.S. SEC.

Ripple–SEC Case Officially Concludes After Five Years

On Thursday, Ripple and the SEC filed a joint motion to dismiss their appeals in the Second Circuit, bringing a close to nearly five years of legal battles. The move followed an internal SEC vote in which most commissioners agreed to settle the case.

Ripple’s Chief Legal Officer, Stuart Alderoty, celebrated the development on social media, confirming the company can now focus fully on its business operations. The lawsuit, which began in December 2020, cost Ripple over $150 million and, in 2023, led to a court ruling that XRP is not a security.

Following Judge Analisa Torres’s final ruling in August 2024, both Ripple and the SEC initially pursued appeals. However, they have now agreed to withdraw, making the conclusion definitive and clearing legal uncertainty for XRP.

Geraci: BlackRock Likely Waited for Lawsuit to End

Geraci suggested that BlackRock deliberately waited for the Ripple lawsuit to end before moving forward with an XRP ETF application. He stated that it would make “zero sense” for BlackRock to limit its crypto ETF offerings to Bitcoin and Ethereum, as that would imply those are the only digital assets with long-term value.

He added that if BlackRock chooses to act, he expects it to do so quickly, though he is prepared to be proven wrong.

Several other major issuers, including Bitwise, Franklin Templeton, and Grayscale, have already applied for spot XRP ETFs, with SEC deadlines for final decisions set for Q4 2025. If BlackRock enters the race, its dominant market position in Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs could help it capture a significant share of the XRP ETF market.

Such a move would likely be welcomed by XRP investors, many of whom view institutional adoption as a powerful price catalyst.

BlackRock’s Track Record Fuels Price Speculation

BlackRock currently holds 738,170 BTC, valued at more than $86 billion. During its accumulation phase, Bitcoin’s price climbed from $45,000 to over $123,000. This precedent fuels speculation that BlackRock’s involvement in XRP could trigger similar growth.

XRP commentator Zach Rector has suggested that such an event could push XRP’s price up to $30 by next year, representing a potential 10X gain from current levels.

With the legal cloud now lifted, market watchers believe the clock has started ticking for BlackRock, and for the next big move in the XRP market.
