VeChain Partners with San Marino to Approve the Digital COVID Vaccination Certificate

The Republic of San Marino has approved VeChain’s eNFT vaccination certificate, which can be verified worldwide. In a press release, San Marino announced that it had approved “Law No. 1”. Article 109 of June 16. “The newly passed law supports the introduction of a vaccination certificate called the“ San Marino Digital Covid Certificate ”.

Each San Marino vaccination card shows the holder’s history of infection in the past. In addition, the vaccination certificate contains a negative test result and also issues the holder with a digital vaccination certificate.

San Marino Announces Vaccination Card

The VeChain Foundation and DNV Assurance have worked with the Republic of San Marino to issue a digital COVID-19 vaccination certificate. San Marino will issue digital certificates via eNFT, a digital asset on the VeChainThor blockchain.

The VeChain Foundation announced in a tweet:

“Together with DNV Assurance, we hereby announce the world’s first national-level 3NFT adoption:

The Republic of San Marino has just approved the Digital COVID Certificate, issued using NFTs through the VeChainThor public blockchain.”

Renato Grottola, Global Director of Growth and Innovation at DNV, spoke about VeChain’s use of blockchain technology. Grottola stated that blockchain technology and NFT have increased people’s confidence in the originality of the information on the certificate. He also pointed out that the use of the technology used reduces the fear of counterfeiting.

In addition, every vaccination card issued by St. Marion is valid for 1 week and 15 days after the first vaccination. The VeChain Foundation also stated that the certificate is valid for 9 months after the second dose. Authorized institutions can issue certificates according to user preferences. The certificate is available in paper or digital form.

Lorenzo Spadoni, President of San Marino Innovation, called the digital COVID certificate an important tool to adapt the country to the “technical standards used by the European Union”. Spadoni said the certification allows San Marino to become fully interoperable.

About the San Marino Vaccination Certificate

In addition, the certificate has two QR codes that, when scanned, can display the holder’s entire COVID medical history. The first code complies with EU standards and requirements. The code can only be verified by authorized personnel such as Member State bodies. On the other hand, anyone outside the European Union can scan the second QR code. The second QR code also directs the user to an application that can be used to verify code authentication. The VeChain Foundation stated:

“This is enabled by linking to a Non-Fungible Token (NFT), i.e. a unique and non-repeated certificate of digital authenticity guaranteeing immutability and accessibility by being registered on VeChainThor public blockchain.”

The announcement of the San Marino eNFT vaccination certificate sparked a reaction from members of the VeChain community. One of the members called this partnership “the greatest mainstream blockchain rollout in modern history”.

Earlier this year, VeChain partnered with Cyprus Mediterranean Hospital to keep vaccination records on the blockchain. On January 5, the VeChain Foundation announced in a tweet that it had received the first 100 COVID-10 vaccination entries for medical workers on its public blockchain.
