Uniswap Labs has officially integrated support for Soneium, a layer-2 blockchain developed by Sony Block Solutions in collaboration with Startale Labs. Announced in a blog post on May 6, the integration allows users to trade, bridge assets, and supply liquidity directly through the Uniswap wallet and web app.
With this update, Uniswap expands its reach into Japan’s entertainment-focused blockchain ecosystem, aligning with its mission to power open and permissionless financial systems.
Sony’s Soneium Aims to Empower Creators and Digital Entertainment
Launched in January 2025, Soneium is designed to bridge the gap between creators and fans through secure onchain interactions. The network has already powered a variety of use cases, including:
- NFT releases for the popular anime Solo Leveling
- Digital collectible distribution at concerts
- Event ticketing for Japanese idol groups
According to Jun Watanabe, Chairman of Sony Block Solutions, the vision behind Soneium is to create a world-class blockchain platform for creative communities. He emphasized that Uniswap’s infrastructure will make Web3 tools more accessible to both fans and creators.

Startale and Uniswap Drive Global Blockchain Access
Sota Watanabe, CEO of Startale Labs, praised the collaboration as a game-changer for onboarding global users into the onchain economy.
“By combining Uniswap’s DEX infrastructure with our scalable Layer-2 network, we’re empowering users to participate in a seamless, creator-led economy,” Watanabe stated.
Uniswap Labs echoed this sentiment, noting that creators often lose value when assets are locked across isolated platforms. By integrating with Soneium, Uniswap enables cross-platform liquidity and monetization, allowing creators to earn and grow within a unified ecosystem.

Uniswap’s Expansion Continues Amid Regulatory Clarity
The integration follows a strong period of growth for Uniswap:
- Its Unichain layer-2 network has already processed over $5.7 billion in trades.
- The platform has recently surpassed $3 trillion in total swap volume.
- It launched new liquidity rewards to incentivize user engagement.
Additionally, in a key regulatory milestone, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission ended its investigation into Uniswap in February 2025 without taking enforcement action. This development clears the path for deeper Uniswap expansion in the U.S. market.
