The Shiba Inu (SHIB) team is preparing to launch its layer-2 protocol, Shibarium, but an exact release date has not been announced. However, the community can access a testnet version of the highly anticipated layer-2 network. The beta version, called Puppynet, was launched on March 11, 2023, and serves as an early version of Shibarium. This allows users to test the network’s features and capabilities before the official launch.
Developers can utilize Puppynet, the first publicly available release of Shiba Inu’s Shibarium network, to deploy decentralized applications (dApps) on the network. The beta testnet is also suitable for businesses to utilize as their decentralized backend, crypto payment gateway, or decentralized governance module. However, it’s essential to note that Puppynet doesn’t support real cryptocurrencies. This is crucial as there has been a rise in impersonators creating fraudulent assets that copy SHIB’s name, logo, and popularity.
These fake assets may confuse and could be a threat to investors. In summary, Puppynet allows developers to deploy dApps on the Shibarium network and businesses to use it as a decentralized backend or payment gateway. Still, users must be cautious of impersonators creating fake assets that can be harmful.

According to SHIB’s lead developer, Shytoshi Kusama, Puppynet represents the initial version of Shibarium, and being in the beta phase, it is solely suitable for testing, research, and entertainment purposes. The dual-layer structure of Shibarium will consist of Heimdall validator nodes and Bor block producer nodes, similar to that of Polygon. The Heimdall layer will use the Tendermint consensus engine, while the Bor layer will ensure complete Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) compatibility.
Is Shiba Inu’s Shiabrium Puppynet Easy to Use?
Puppynet is open to anyone interested in using Shibarium, and they can register themselves on the Shibarium Tech website. However, individuals who desire a more personalized and supported experience, they can fill out the Shibarium Technology intake form to receive a “red carpet” experience and “top-notch support.”
Additionally, the Shiba Inu (SHIB) developers have created an RPC node toolkit for users who are not interested in running their own nodes on Shibarium. The project has also started accepting applications for validators, who will receive rewards in Bone Shibaswap (BONE) and a yet-to-be-disclosed token called TREAT.
Shiba Inu (SHIB) plans to release a stablecoin in the future called Shi, and the launch of Shibarium is expected to change how people use SHIB. Once launched, SHIB will no longer be an ERC-20 token on the Ethereum (ETH) blockchain but will have its own network, potentially leading to an increase in real-world use cases for the token.
