Solana achieved a significant milestone in its history by introducing the “Saga,” a new Web3 Android device, making it the first-ever blockchain to do so. The news of the phone launch was announced on a dedicated Solana mobile Twitter account created specifically for this purpose.
The co-founder of Solana Labs, Anatoly Yakovenko, delivered a welcoming speech at the Solana launch event held in San Francisco yesterday. During the event, Yakovenko briefly explained how Solana developed a flagship mobile software stack optimized to bring cryptocurrency to the mobile phone era. Essentially, he discussed how Solana built a highly efficient mobile phone that is capable of handling blockchain technology and enabling seamless cryptocurrency transactions.
According to the co-founder of Solana Labs, he stated that the Saga Mobile was designed to address the challenge of using a separate hardware wallet for storing cryptocurrency, which often leaves users feeling insecure. One of the key features of the Saga Mobile is its ability to provide self-custody of crypto wallets, which has been a persistent issue in the crypto industry.

Solana Mobile Stack
The Solana mobile stack comprises two distinct technologies: the Seed Vault and the Solana dApp Store. The Seed Vault technology allows for sharing the same seed wallet identities, meaning that users no longer have to navigate through multiple menu pages to connect to different wallets. With Saga, users can seamlessly access their wallets, thanks to the operating system that verifies their identity. This feature makes the process easy and convenient for users.
Saga offers a faster way to transact cryptocurrency with an impressive target block time of just 400 milliseconds. Additionally, Saga boasts an average of 4.7k transactions per second (TPS) and a maximum of 5.2k TPS, making it one of the fastest and most efficient blockchain-based mobile devices currently available.
Reviews From Saga Users
The executive director and member of Solana Foundation, Dan Albert, shared his excitement by highlighting one of the features of Saga.
“With the @solanamobile Trust Zone, Android cannot screenshot your seed phrase when it’s on screen, nor can it capture touch events on your screen when entering a seed or unlock PIN. This makes the @solana Saga as secure as a hardware wallet, with the UX of mobile.”
Furthermore, Austin Federa, Head of Strategy and Comm at Solana, quoted a review from one of the mobile phone users. He said:
The entire Solana community was excited, and many didn’t take long before sharing their pictures while using the newly launched Saga.
