Shibarium, the pivotal layer-2 network within the Shiba Inu ecosystem, has successfully initiated its inaugural hard fork to optimize burns and implement a multi-token burn model.
In a recent Discord update, DaVinci disseminated resources and transition details, urging stakeholders to align their Bor genesis with updated configurations from other instances to ensure a seamless transition.
The development team provided an updated genesis file and post-update command, emphasizing the mandatory nature of the genesis update for Mainnet nodes to sustain synchronization.
The hard fork was slated to commence at block height 1962000, and with Shibarium currently standing at block height 1987946, it is presumed that the fork has taken place, although the team has not issued an official update.
The primary focus of the fork was a substantial enhancement to Shibarium’s burning mechanism, introducing a burn mechanism for BONE. While most BONE holders welcomed the move for its deflationary impact, some questioned the need to burn BONE, the governance token of the Doggy DAO, expressing concerns about relinquishing voting powers.

Shibarium Fork Impact Unveiled
In a separate revelation, NOWNodes shed light on the fork’s details, highlighting Shibarium as a solution providing a more streamlined environment for decentralized finance (DeFi) and non-fungible tokens (NFTs).
According to NOWNodes, a noteworthy change in the hard fork is the migration of Shibarium’s Puppynet layer-1 from the Goerli Network to the Sepolia Network, as reported by Fxcryptonews.
Shibarium has committed to enhancing SHIB burns to reduce the Shiba Inu supply, with the latest upgrade transitioning the burn mechanism from manual to automated, boosting efficiency and transparency.
Crucially, Shibarium anticipates ongoing upgrades, focusing on manual and automated burning processes to ensure adaptability. Version upgrades will prioritize improved transaction speeds and enhanced user experiences.
Shibarium Fork’s Impact and Future Prospects
Addressing the potential for mass adoption, the NOWNodes team affirms that developers’ seamless integration of additional features has significantly boosted the network’s scalability. Moreover, this surge in scalability allows the protocol to execute more transactions in a condensed timeframe. Consequently, it provides developers with instant, real-time on-chain data sources, further enhancing the platform’s appeal.
