Shytoshi Kusama, the lead developer of Shiba Inu, outlined steps needed to draw major centralized exchanges (CEXs) to the Shibarium network, an Ethereum layer-2 solution. Responding to concerns on X (formerly Twitter), Kusama explained the challenges and offered solutions to boost CEX adoption of Shibarium tokens.
The discussion began when the team behind FEED, a meme coin project, highlighted frustrations over CEXs’ lack of interest in Shibarium tokens. Tagging Kusama, they noted many meme coin traders had “given up” on Shibarium due to this issue.

Before addressing these concerns, Kusama dismissed critics in the comment section who misrepresented his identity. He emphasized that solving the adoption problem requires widespread interest and increased usage of Shibarium.
Mass Adoption Key to Attracting CEXs
Kusama explained that mass adoption would bring traffic, which CEXs rely on. He noted the rising competition from other layer-2 solutions, as some exchanges have started developing their own sidechains. For it to stand out, it must capture significant user interest.
The Shiba Inu lead suggested that the ecosystem focus on fostering partnerships, building unique niches, and generating revenue. He added that these efforts would create demand, encouraging exchanges to list Shibarium tokens.
Steps to Boost Ecosystem Growth
Kusama outlined a phased approach to strengthen the ecosystem. First, the team must refine Shibarium’s technical foundations and encourage Web2 adoption.

Scaling efforts should follow. Additionally, a breakout token on Shibarium could quickly attract major CEXs, similar to how Solana gained traction with meme coins like WIF and Bonk.
Kusama assured the community of ongoing progress to enhance Shibarium. Key initiatives include developing a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) and introducing liquid staking. These innovations aim to drive growth and attract major players to the ecosystem.
By focusing on adoption, partnerships, and innovation, the Shiba Inu ecosystem seeks to position Shibarium as a competitive layer-2 network.
