Ripple has donated $25 million worth of its stablecoin RLUSD to two leading U.S. non-profit organizations DonorsChoose and Teach for America. Yoshitaka Kitao, CEO of SBI Holdings and Ripple’s major partner in Japan, announced the news via an X (formerly Twitter) post, linking to Ripple’s official blog. The blog highlights this donation as a strategic step toward using stablecoins to strengthen community support worldwide. Ripple’s contribution will directly benefit more than 31,000 classrooms, support over 21,000 teachers, and impact nearly 13,000 schools across the United States.
Ripple has committed a portion of the $25 million to provide stipends to nearly 300,000 students. The funds will also fuel nationwide financial literacy programs, offering students and educators the tools they need to succeed in today’s rapidly changing job market. Ripple emphasized that this initiative represents an effort to “reimagine American education” through blockchain-driven philanthropy.

Tensions Rise Between Ripple and Bitcoin Advocates
Despite the positive announcement, Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse faced criticism from Bitcoin advocate and Bitcoin Bond Company CEO Pierre Rochard. After Garlinghouse tweeted about promoting stablecoin legislation and supporting a multi-chain crypto future, Rochard criticized him for allegedly backing central bank digital currencies (CBDCs) over Bitcoin.
You ruined your reputation and lost all credibility by pushing for CBDCs and against Bitcoin.

Nobody takes you seriously anymore.
Rochard accused Garlinghouse of undermining his own credibility, claiming, “Nobody takes you seriously anymore.” The exchange followed a canceled meeting with pro-crypto U.S. Senator Cynthia Lummis, which Garlinghouse publicly mentioned.
