Ripple Demonstrates Generosity with $1M XRP Donation for Earthquake Victims in Turkey

Ripple announced on Twitter today that it plans to donate $1 million to non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that are offering aid to individuals affected by the powerful earthquake that occurred in both countries last week.

The donation, according to Ripple, would be made through a relief fund established by Crypto for Charity. Ripple announced that it would provide $250K in XRP and match all cryptocurrency donations2:1, up to $750K.

As part of its efforts to support the relief efforts for victims of the recent earthquake in both countries, Ripple has announced that it will match all crypto donations at a ratio of 2:1. This is a strategy aimed at encouraging members of the cryptocurrency community to also make donations towards the cause.

Ripple, a well-known blockchain firm, stated that it would divide the money it plans to donate to non-governmental organizations (NGOs) helping those affected by the recent earthquakes in both countries among four top humanitarian aid NGOs. These NGOs are Mercy Corps, CARE, World Central Kitchen, and the International Rescue Committee (IRC). Ripple also stated that it would equally split the funds among these four NGOs.

Less than two weeks ago on February 6, a massive earthquake measuring 7.8 magnitude hit Turkey and Syria, resulting in the loss of over 33,000 lives. In addition to the human casualties, the earthquake caused severe damage to properties and disrupted the livelihoods of many individuals.

Following the recent earthquake that caused significant damage and loss of lives in Turkey and Syria, there has been an outpouring of donations from the public to support non-governmental organizations (NGOs) providing aid to those affected by the disaster. For instance, Vitalik Buterin, one of the co-founders of Ethereum, made a donation worth $233,000 in ETH to support earthquake victims.

Vitalik Buterin’s contribution to support victims of the earthquake involved donating funds to two non-governmental organizations (NGOs), namely Anka Relief and Ahbap. He sent the first donation of 99 ETH, which was approximately $150,000, to Ahbap on February 11. The following day, Buterin made a second contribution of 50 ETH, which was valued at around $75,000, to Anka Relief.
