Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse expressed strong support for Paul Atkins, describing him as an “outstanding choice” to lead the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Atkins, a former SEC Commissioner, officially accepted the role on Wednesday. Known for his pro-crypto views and libertarian principles, Atkins emerged as the top candidate earlier this week. Garlinghouse voiced optimism that Atkins would restore “common sense” to the agency, a sentiment widely echoed within the cryptocurrency sector.

Industry Experts Anticipate Major Shift

Jake Chervinsky, chief legal officer at Variant, emphasized the significance of Atkins’ appointment, calling it a “regulatory singularity” that could usher in a transformative era for the crypto industry. Chervinsky noted that the changes under Atkins’ leadership could be monumental, reflecting the broader industry’s anticipation of a more favorable regulatory environment.
