Charles Hoskinson, the creator of Cardano, has addressed questions and misunderstandings regarding the Cardano Member-Based Organization (MBO) and the platform’s decentralization goals in a Twitter conversation. Hoskinson stated his commitment to upholding the democratic nature of Cardano’s governance in response to a criticism made by a crypto community member.

If you're London(ish) based and want your say on the future of Cardanos on-chain governance – this is the place for you (RSVP)⤵️ https://t.co/mUHnhWV66r pic.twitter.com/vVMqMyFKg2
The discussion started when Upstream, a Cardano stake pool recognized for its community and sustainability focus, emphasized the value of workshops as a forum for community comment on Cardano’s on-chain governance.
Uncertainty was expressed in response to Upstream’s statement, with one Twitter user speculating that MBOs will eventually have control of Cardano. Charles Hoskinson immediately replied, saying his curiosity in thoroughly explaining how an MBO would have ‘all the power,’ as the skeptic Twitter user predicted.

MBO to Help in Achieving the Will of ADA Holders
Hoskinson emphasized that organizations like the MBO are to help carry out the community’s will while highlighting that ADA holders will elect all roles with power. He said, “[MBO is] another structure to assist in the execution of the will of ADA holders made up of members of the Cardano community for the Cardano community.”
He also attacked those who use cynical FUD (fear, uncertainty, and doubt) as a justification to avoid participating in the governance process, attributing it to their hesitation rather than showing how well-run Cardano’s governance is.
Upstream addressed concerns regarding on-chain governance and emphasized the importance of the workshops by giving the community a chance to express their views and make sure their ideas are heard.
It is worth noting that Upstream hosted a Cardano CIP-1694 in London, inviting everyone interested in changing Cardano’s governance to attend.
