Cardano Founder Claims an 18% Likelihood of Vitalik Buterin Facing Prison Time

Cardano Under Fire: Hoskinson’s Take on Price Challenges

Recently, Charles Hoskinson, the creator of the Cardano blockchain, voiced his belief that Vitalik Buterin, a co-founder of Ethereum, faces an 18% likelihood of imprisonment.

Hoskinson’s recent criticism of the Ethereum figure comes in response to Buterin’s frequent inclusion in ranking the most impactful figures within the cryptocurrency community.

Probability of Vitalik Buterin’s Incarceration

In a recent tweet, CoinDesk reported that Vitalik Buterin has consistently ranked as the Most Influential crypto personality since 2014, surpassing other notable figures in the crypto community. This includes individuals like Do Kwon of Terra Luna, Sam Bankman-Fried of FTX, Changpeng Zhao (CZ) of Binance, Gary Gensler of the U.S. SEC, Brian Armstrong of Coinbase, and Jack Dorsey of Twitter (now X).

Balaji Srinivasan, the former Chief Technology Officer of Coinbase and the pseudonymous founder of Bitcoin, Satoshi Nakamoto, has made three appearances on CoinDesk’s influential list. Apart from these two, all other crypto-based personalities have secured a spot twice.

Given Buterin’s consistent appearances, CoinDesk posed a question to the crypto community about the likelihood of him making a fifth appearance in the 2023 ranking.

Charles Hoskinson’s Provocative Statement

Responding to the query, Charles Hoskinson, instead of addressing Buterin’s influence, diverted the conversation by stating, “Appearing on CoinDesk’s most influential list carries an 18 percent chance of a prison sentence,” presenting it as an intriguing ‘fun fact.’

Hoskinson based his “18% chance of prison” assertion on the fact that three of the 16 crypto personalities on the CoinDesk ranking have faced significant legal troubles with potential prison sentences.

Additionally, he argued that, statistically, each individual on CoinDesk’s personality rankings has an 18% chance of encountering legal issues.

Mixed Reactions from the Crypto Community

Meanwhile, crypto community members offered varying perspectives on Hoskinson’s statement. Some suggested that he might be expressing jealousy for not being featured among the most influential crypto personalities.

Lex Blazer, a Crypto Youtuber, remarked, “I know CoinDesk is biased against you, but damn, not even once? How many blockchain features has Cardano pioneered at scale?”

Others contended that Hoskinson deliberately neglected to acknowledge Vitalik Buterin’s significant influence, with some asserting that “Vitalik is the greatest of all time (GOAT).”

Notably, the ongoing friction between Hoskinson and the Ethereum community stems from his removal from the Ethereum cycle years ago.
