Over the past week, Shiba Inu (SHIB) has experienced a decline of 15.94%, causing it to drop a few positions in the rankings. Currently, the popular canine-themed cryptocurrency holds the 18th spot in terms of market capitalization. If the downward trend persists, SHIB might soon fall out of the top 20 cryptocurrencies. The token has witnessed a decrease of 21.8% over the past 14 days.
The decline in SHIB prices has had a negative impact on SHIB holders, with a significant majority experiencing losses. A few weeks ago, approximately 80% of holders were at a loss, but that number has since risen to 91%, as reported by IntoTheBlock. Currently, only a small fraction, around 7% of holders, are still in a profitable position.
In addition, ShibaSwap, a decentralized platform based on Shiba Inu, has experienced a substantial decrease in liquidity. As SHIB prices have fallen, there has been a 9% decline in the liquidity of ShibaSwap. According to IntoTheBlock, ShibaSwap’s liquidity has decreased to $21.78 million, which has raised concerns among investors. The decrease in liquidity can be attributed to funds being withdrawn from the network and the declining value of the Shiba Inu (SHIB) token and its associated token, BONE.

Any Recovery Pathway For Shiba Inu?
SHIB has been experiencing a consistent decline since February this year, with its value decreasing by 54.5% after reaching a peak of $0.00001473 on February 5, 2023. This downward trend has raised concerns about the potential actions of large holders, who may grow weary of their losses and decide to sell their holdings. Given that a significant portion of SHIB investors consists of large holders, it could pose challenges for the project if they were to initiate selling. In fact, there have already been instances of whales starting to unload their SHIB tokens.
In order to regain momentum, SHIB could benefit from adhering to timely release schedules. The highly anticipated launch of Shibarium has generated significant excitement, but its release date has been postponed multiple times. While lead developer Shytoshi Kusama has hinted at a potential July launch, there is no specific date confirmed yet. Consistently providing updates and meeting scheduled releases can help maintain confidence and interest in the project.
Additionally, it would be advantageous for SHIB if the broader cryptocurrency market experiences a period of stabilization. Major cryptocurrencies like Cardano (ADA), Polygon (MATIC), and Solana (SOL) have witnessed larger declines compared to SHIB in the weekly charts, with each project falling around 20% in the past week. As of the time of writing, SHIB is trading at $0.000006742, indicating a 2.38% increase in the last 24 hours.
