The exchange is regulated by the Japan financial service Agency. It is the largest cryptocurrency exchange in Japan and one of the largest in the world. Initially, the exchange was only available for users in Japan, but in 2017, another version for users in Europe and the United States was launched. It has its headquarters in Tokyo, Japan.

The Bitflyer US office is based in silicon valley and is regulated by the New York Department of financial services. At the same time, Bitflyer Europe is located in Luxembourg, and it’s registered with the Luxembourg trade and companies register and is monitored by the Commission de Surveillance du Secteur financier (CSSF).
